Drake Debuts Billboard Top With New Album ‘Honestly, Nervermind’

Drake has added yet another chart-topping project to his discography that already has multiple #1s.

Singer and Rapper, Drake, usually has a strong impact with its releases and it was no different with the album “Honestly, Nevermind”, which reached #1 among the best sellers. With great strength in streaming, which was responsible for 94% of the project’s activity, the Canadian’s new album debuted at number one with a total of 204,000 equivalent units sold.

When it comes to the most important music chart in the United States, the track that did well was the track “Jimmy Cooks“, which has a partnership with 21 Savage. The track scored incredible numbers, with 42.2 million streams, 3 million radio audience impressions, and 6,000 downloads sold in its first week (June 17-23). The song’s title is a reference to the series “Degrassi: The Next Generation”, which Drake acted in Canada when he was still very young.

This is the rapper’s 11th #1 song on the Billboard Hot 100. In addition to this project, the artist also had: “What’s My Name?” (with Rihanna), “Work” (with Rihanna), “One Dance”, “God’s Plan”, “Nice for What”, “In My Feelings”, “Toosie Slide”, “What’s Next”, “Way 2 Sexy”, “Wait for U” and “Jimmy Cooks“ . The second place of the week went to the album “Un Verano Sin Ti”, by bad bunnyand third place went to “Harry’s House”, by Harry Styles. Drizzy’s 14-track release sold 210,000 album-equivalent units in its first week. Although the sixth studio album by Drake, Certified Lover Boy (CLB), claimed the dominant number one spot on the Billboard 200 Albums last September, selling an estimated total of 613,000 album-equivalent units, the numbers associated with his latest release are almost as impressive. Despite there being a gap of almost 400,000 units between the sales figures for CLB and “Honestly Nevermind”, the LP managed to make Apple Music history by breaking the record for the most streams on the first day of a dance project.

The Toronto native also garnered 61 million first-day streams on Spotify and hit the 100 million stream cap on June 19. its seventh consecutive number 1 on the chart. The success of Drizzy’s Honestly, Nevermind album came in the face of criticism from both his listeners and music industry figures such as The Breakfast Club host and author, Charlamagne Da Godwho called the project “elevator music”, as well as stating that he will likely never revisit the project again.

The former executive of Def Jam and Murder Inc., Irv Gottialso had some words for the album of Drakerevealing to TMZ that he was inspired to discover a new DMX after she tuned in to the release. “Personally, I love Drizzy,” Gotti said. “I think he’s a great person, a great human being. But I’ve listened to his album – and the rapper can do whatever he wants as an artist… but his new album Drake It’s not hip-hop.”
