Madame Web – ambitious new piece of the Sony Universe based on Marvel characters – is ready to welcome a new entry in the cast: Emma Roberts. The actress – niece of Hollywood star Julia Roberts – is known to the general public for her roles in the anthology series American Horror Story and in Scream Queens, both signed by Ryan Murphy. A name that only increases the expectations and curiosity around a film still shrouded in mystery.

The news of the entry of Emma Roberts in the cast of the cinecomic has not been confirmed or denied by Sony or by the person concerned. In the event that the rumor were to prove true, Roberts would complete a cast that boasts names of the caliber of Dakota Johnson – in the role of the protagonist – e Tahar Rahim – star of the Netflix series The Serpent. Next to them Sidney Sweeney – launched in Hollywood Olympus from the series Euphoria -, Celeste O ‘Connor and Isabela Marced.

Madame Web is described by Sony as a project between origin story and standalone, which will tell the origins of the Spider-Man villain. Nicknamed “Doctor Strange of the DC”, Madame Web is able to predict the future and in the comics she has been the mentor of both Spider-Man and numerous Spider-Women. No further plot details have been revealed at the moment, but fans of the character – who made his debut in the comic The Amazing Spider-Man – are curious to find out the new version of the heroine, since in the comics the woman is elderly, blind and paraplegic.

Madame Web should debut at the cinema on July 7, 2023 and is part of an ever-expanding Sony Universe. After Venom – protagonist of two films, which will be followed by a third – and Morbius, another Spider-Man villain will also arrive on the big screen, Kraven the Hunterthe standalone of which is scheduled for January 2023. Announced but not yet in production is the cinecomic dedicated to El Muerto.
