England: Surprised Liverpool, crushed Brighton

Liverpool made a blistering start to the recovery against Chelsea, going down the leg before being sent off in the twenty-first minute (1–1). It was the opposite on Saturday at Anfield: the start, having conceded a goal after three minutes, was erased from a good collective start.

Luis Diaz got his men back on track (27th, 1-1), Mohamed Salah extended the lead seconds after missing the penalty (36th, 2-1) and Diogo Jota (62nd) completed the table .

The black point for the Reds lies in the red card received by their rookie Alexis McAllister, who is suddenly unavailable for next weekend’s trip to Newcastle.

The Argentine, however, is not missing out on his former club Brighton, who did far better than Wolverhampton on Saturday, a week after their opening win by the same score against promoted Luton (4-1).

Coach Roberto De Zerbi’s Seagulls also lost midfielder Moises Cacedo to Chelsea in an estimated €133m move, the most expensive in Premier League history. For some time, without looking at it.

Brentford also dominated Fulham (3-0), who were reduced to ten after an hour, notably through a goal from Yoan Visa, the former Lorient striker’s second of the season.
