To Justin Bieber fans, bad news, the pop music star left his followers worried recently when he released a video that shows part of his paralyzed face. The singer, who had already postponed some of his shows, says he suffers from a rare syndrome called Ramsay Hunt.
Ramsay Hunt syndrome is an infection of the nerves in the face and ear that can cause facial paralysis. It is caused by the herpes zoster virus, (which causes an inflammation known as “cobreiro” in certain regions of the country), also responsible for chickenpox.
“I want to update you on what’s going on, obviously as you can see from my face. I have a syndrome called Ramsay Hunt, because of this virus that attacks the nerves in my ear, my facial nerves and made my face paralyzed.”
“That eye isn’t blinking, I can’t smile on that side of my face, that side of my nose doesn’t move. It’s a total paralysis on that side,” describes Bieber.
“For those who are frustrated by the cancellation of my upcoming shows, I am not physically fit to do them. This is quite serious, as you can see. I wish that wasn’t the case, but it’s time to take care of my body and I need to take it easy. I hope you understand,” Justin said.
“I will use this time to rest and relax to return 100% to what I was born to do. In the meantime, I need to relax to get my face back. I love you, thank you for being patient with me. I will improve. I’m doing all the exercises to get my face back to normal, it’s just a matter of time, but we don’t know how much exactly.”
“But it will be ok, I hope. I trust God and I trust that this is happening for a reason. I don’t know which one it is right now, but in the meantime I’m going to rest. I love you,” Justin Bieber concluded. Check out the video:
Due to the partial paralysis of his face, the musician was forced to postpone the remaining dates of his “Justice World Tour” in the United States. Previously, the singer had already canceled concerts in Toronto and Washington, due to the reaction of the syndrome.
The European tour, which is scheduled for the end of July, is also on pause. The producer Live Nation, responsible for the presentations, released a statement:
“In light of Justin’s ongoing recovery, the remaining US Justice Tour shows scheduled for June and early July will be postponed. Justin continues to receive the best medical care possible, is optimistic about his recovery and is looking forward to getting back on the road and performing for his fans abroad later this summer.”
Rescheduling details for the United States will be posted shortly. Refunds will be available at points of sale. Tickets will be accepted on all rescheduled dates.
Bieber’s “Justice” tour has already been postponed multiple times due to the coronavirus pandemic. It is scheduled to resume on July 31st in Lucca, Italy and continue through December 7th in Auckland, New Zealand.
It is worth remembering that Justin Bieber is one of the main attractions of Rock in Rio on September 4th. In addition, he has dates scheduled in São Paulo, at Allianz Parque, on the 14th and 15th of the same month. Tickets for all performances are already sold out.
