Fake Empire is a 100% female quartet (with 3 sisters in the band) from the Eghezée region. They offer indie-pop compositions in English, with beautiful vocal harmonies around the cello sound.
Fake Empire was born in 2017 in the Melery family garage in Eghezée. Initially, the group is made up of 3 sisters: the eldest Lorraine (former candidate for “The Voice”) and her twin and younger sisters Mégane and Margaux. They quickly looked for a bassist and met Clémence d’Hulst via a classified ad on the networks. Clémence who has a quadruple advantage: she is a girl (sine qua non condition for being in the group), she lives nearby (in Meux), she sings very well and she plays… the cello! The symbiosis is immediate and Clémence is quickly adopted as a 4th sister.
Winners of several competitions (Radio Mint, Humo’s Rock Rally, Tremplin des Solidarités, Envol des Cités 2022, etc.), the young musicians notably had the honor of opening the Ronquières Festival this year. Their victory at the Envol des Cités opened the doors of the “Pro Sound Studio” to them to record the tracks “Just Fine” and the very latest single “Back Home” which is scheduled for release at the end of October. Songs performed live in Showcase which should appear on a future EP.
Fake Empire defines its style as an indie pop, distinguished by the powerful voice of Lorraine and the soft voice of Clémence which match perfectly. Proud of their femininity, the group composes strong pieces in which melancholy is reflected in lyrics concerned with understanding the contemporary world and interpersonal relationships.
Thus, they play in a style that vacillates between lightness and tenacity, directly inspired by the musical palette that makes up their different personal tastes: artists such as David Bowie, Ben Howard, Billie Eilish, Alt-J.
