At the end of the first film, the powerful Dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald (Johnny Depp) is captured by MACUSA (The Magical Congress of the United States of America), with the help of Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne).

However, as he had threatened to do, Grindelwald manages to escape from detention and begins gathering his followers. Most of these are unaware of his true intentions: to gather pure-blood wizards to rule over all non-magical beings.

In an attempt to thwart Grindelwald’s plans, Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law) recruits his former student Newt Scamander, who agrees to help him, unaware of the dangers ahead.
