FC Barcelona: Xavi will bring his former ward ?!

Xavi would like to bring Baghdad Bounedjah to Barcelona, whom he had the opportunity to lead while working in Qatar, reports “Sport”.

Xavi is aware of the difficult staffing situation of the Catalan Duma. After another injury to Ansu Fati and the decision to end his career by Sergio Agüero, there was not much room for maneuver on the offensive. The priority for the January transfer window is therefore to strengthen Barcelona’s attack, and the choice may fall on an unobvious candidate.

The Spaniards’ target was Baghdad Bounedjah. Xavi informed authorities that he would like to bring an attacker with whom he had the opportunity to work in Qatar to Camp Nou.

The 29-year-old Algerian is the undisputed star of the league and a real goal scoring machine. He has already finished the season six times in his career with the King of Goals statuette. For Al-Sadd, he has scored 159 goals in 153 appearances, an average of more than one per game.

Under Xavi, he had defeated his opponents’ goalkeepers 21 times in 19 games in the previous campaign.

Bounedjah is characterized primarily by great physical conditions, which he can use effectively. It is based on strength, but also has good motor skills. The current season is another one in which the Algerian shoots regularly. He already has eleven goals in nine matches.

Bounedjah’s candidacy is interesting given Barcelona’s financial problems. The possible transfer amount for an experienced striker who could guarantee at least a few hits would not be too high, despite a contract with Al-Sadd valid until June 2024. On the other hand, the Qatar could also veto the problematic negotiations over Xavi’s departure.
