Riot Games is kicking off 2024 with a bang: meet the new dragon champion coming to League of Legends, Smolder!
Riot releases new League of Legends champion Smolder trailer
A video has been uploaded of Smolder recounting the history of dragons in an adorable, childish voice, and at the end of the story, he appears on the screen by burning a hole in the story’s illustrations.
Notably, Smulders’ mom is also part of the trailer, although she doesn’t appear on screen. She was introduced as Smold apologized. Riot has previously mentioned that “there is something lurking not far away, always watching, creating a safe space for our baby dragons to grow.”” In last year’s championship roadmap, it was possible that it was hinted that she would make an appearance in the near future.
When will Smolder be released?
Considering this year is the Chinese Year of the Dragon and everything is Chinese New Year themed, we expect Smolder to go live in patch 14.3, which according to the patch schedule will be released on February 7th. It was released to the live server a few days before the Chinese New Year, which will take place on Saturday, February 10 this year. More details about its release should be revealed soon.
While we wait, you can check out Smolder’s performance in League of Legends. Dragon Champion will likely be a late-game scaling ADC whose abilities scale based on hitting enemy heroes throughout the game. It has some similarities to Syndra’s passive skill, which rewards her for hitting orbs. You’ll soon be able to view a summary of our capabilities, as well as the first number in your kit.
