First look at ‘Dead City’, The Walking Dead spinoff about Negan and Maggie! – TEASER

A new spin off from The Walking Dead is coming to April 2023: will be centered around Negan and Maggie and will be called The Walking Dead: Dead City!

Jeffrey Dean Morgan has confirmed that production on the Walking Dead spin-off series, The Walking Dead: Dead City, is in progress. The actor, who plays Negan, shared a photo of the pilot script on Instagram with the caption: “This is it. Xxjd… and a shelf full of sounds”.

The new series The Walking Dead: Dead City will follow the unlikely pair — played by Lauren Cohan and Jeffrey Dean Morgan — in what AMC calls “a post-apocalyptic Manhattan long ago cut off from the mainland.

“The Ruined City” adds AMC, “it is filled with the dead and inhabitants who have made New York City their world filled with anarchy, danger, beauty and terror.”

The Walking Dead: Dead City is the fifth spin-off of the original AMC drama based on the comic series by Robert Kirkman. Previous spinoffs include Fear the Walking Dead, The Walking Dead: World Beyond, Tales of the Walking Dead, and an as yet unnamed Daryl/Carol spinoff.

Eli Jorné has been selected to produce the six-episode first season alongside Cohan and Morgan.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan almost turned down the spinoff

What was surprising about the man who plays Negan was that he even wanted to do the show in the first place. “If you had told me a year ago that I was going to do it, I would have said, ‘There’s no way. I’m going to finish this and leave.’” says Morgan. “The new adventure awaits doing something else.’”

So what has changed? The actor pauses and considers, “I think the ending of The Walking Dead and his departure would have been a noble thing for all of us. But the story was so good and worth telling, it was just about not being able to say no. And I felt invigorated and wanted to continue.”

Jorne “he created something incredibly special”, Cohan said. He added “I can’t wait for fans to see what we have in store for Maggie and Negan.” For his part, Morgan exclaimed: “Walkers in an urban setting has always been such a strong image, but 5th Avenue, the Empire State Building, the Statue of Liberty? The greatest city in the world?!? The background is amazing,” has continued, “but it’s the story that Eli Jorné cooked up that’s even better. Fasten your seatbelts, people, the Isle of the Dead will reinvent the Universe of The Walking Dead”

The six-episode series will launch on AMC and AMC+ in 2023.

Gaius Charles becomes the antithesis protagonist of Lauren Cohan and Jeffrey Dean Morgan in Isle of the Dead, the upcoming spinoff series of The Walking Dead set in AMC’s New York City.

Charles will play Izaak. He is confident, ruthless and relentless in seeking what he believes is justice, by force of her will and by threatening him. Izaak appreciates his work and mixes the humor with the terror he incites. He is a family man, dedicated to building a safe world for his wife and daughters. His journey unearths a loss he’s haunted by. He has patience and endurance and walks rather than run away from his mistakes.
