A 70-year-old man shot a female brown bear in southwestern France after she attacked and injured him while hunting a boar.
The incident took place on Saturday afternoon. A member of the local hunting association in the Seix region of Ariège – while hunting a wild boar – he was bitten several times by a bear walking with its cubs.

To defend himself, the hunter fired two shots, killing her on the spot. With serious injuries in the area of the femoral artery, he was transferred to the intensive care unit of a hospital in Toulouse.
