Before she became one of the most famous rap women in the world, she was an ordinary Bronx girl with big dreams. For some, its story is a contemporary fairy tale about Cinderella, for others – a story of struggle, hard work, sprinkled with a bit of luck.

The rapper was born on October 11, 1992 as Belcalis Marlenis Almanzar. Her father is from the Dominican Republic and her mother is from Trinidad. She grew up in New York City in the Bronx with her younger sister Hennessy Carolina, to whom she owes her pseudonym. She started to call her Bacardi, which was later shortened to Cardi, and “B” is short for “beautifull” or “bully”.
As a teenager, she started working as a saleswoman in a supermarket for the Amish. It wasn’t the best-paid job or the job she liked. At 19, she was fired and her manager suggested she go look for a job at a strip club across the street. So she did. She often emphasizes that this job gave her financial independence, thanks to which she was able to get away from the boy who bullied her mentally and physically. In turn, my mother told her that she works as a nanny.
Over time, her Instagram account gained more and more followers who loved her honesty and sense of humor. Her influencer talent was noticed by the producers of the program “Love & Hip Hop: New York”, who invited her to the program in 2015 (she appeared in season 6 and 7). Viewers fell in love with her, thanks to which she rose to the rank of the greatest star of the program, which opened the door to a global career.

Many people started to accuse her of the fact that the music she creates is too commercial and the lyrics are weak. Cardi B commented on it in an interview with The Fader: “Sometimes it crushes me a bit because I want to make music the way I like it, but if it doesn’t sell and it doesn’t work, I change my sound. I have a passion for music, I love music. But I also have a passion for money and paying bills. “
During the BET Hip Hop Awards 2017 gala, along with DJ Khaled and Kendrick Lamar, she had the most nominations, as many as 9. She returned home with 5 statuettes, and a year later she added another 4 to them.
