With three million players on the opening weekend, Gears 5 doubled the user base recorded from Gears of War 4 to the launch.
Microsoft has underlined the excellent results achieved by Gears 5 at its market debut. The new title of The Coalition has in fact recorded the biggest launch week compared to any other Xbox Game Studios title in the current generation, with over three million players on the opening weekend.
Predictably the numbers have been strengthened by the inclusion of the game in the Xbox Game Pass subscription service, starting September 6th for subscribers to the Ultimate option and from September 10th for all other users.
The previous record for Game Pass titles was shared by Sea of Thieves and Forza Horizon 4, which last year had obtained 2 million players each in the launch week.
The Redmond company also added that the Gears 5 user base in the first week doubled the one recorded by Gears of War 4 in 2016, and is the most massive since the launch of Halo 4 in 2012. In addition, the game has almost tripled the numbers obtained by Gears of War 4 on PC.
