GeForce and Radeon graphics card prices – how much do you have to pay in November?

We have the latest report on the availability of GeForce and Radeon graphics cards – unfortunately, those interested in buying still have to take into account the highly inflated prices of newer models. It cannot be denied that their value is related to the cryptocurrency rate.

I don’t think you need to explain to anyone what the current situation is on the gaming graphics card market. Both manufacturers have problems meeting the demand, which causes problems with the availability of equipment in stores (and if it is already available, then at heavily inflated prices).

Graphics card prices – you can see the relationship with the cryptocurrency rate

What is the situation on the graphics card market today? The 3D Center website has published a new report on the availability of equipment in large German and Austrian stores – it includes the average price of cards in relation to the suggested rate, but also the availability and rate of the Ethereum cryptocurrency (it is mine that miners use graphics cards to mine). The conclusions look very interesting.

Graphics card prices - November 2021Average price of Radeon RX 6000 (red line) and GeForce RTX 3000 (green line) graphics cards + Ethereum cryptocurrency (yellow line)

One can get the impression that the Radeon RX 6000 cards have recently become slightly cheaper, and the GeForce RTX 3000 slightly more expensive (you can see here a convergence with the Ethereum rate, which may drive demand among miners and increase equipment prices).

However, it is worth paying attention to the prices of individual models (and the difference compared to the end of October):

Model Price compared to the suggested The difference with the end of October
Radeon RX 6600 + 60% + 1pp
Radeon RX 6600 XT + 71% + 8pp
Radeon RX 6700 XT + 86% + 10pp
Radeon RX 6800 + 117% -42pp
Radeon RX 6800 XT + 116% + 8pp
Radeon RX 6900 XT + 43% + 3pp
GeForce RTX 3060 + 112%
GeForce RTX 3060 Ti + 91% + 19pp
GeForce RTX 3070 + 91% + 6pp
GeForce RTX 3070 Ti + 90% + 29pp
GeForce RTX 3080 + 102% + 7pp
GeForce RTX 3080 Ti + 51% + 13pp
GeForce RTX 3090 + 81% + 7pp

Only now you can see that almost all graphics cards have actually gotten more expensive recently (the prices of better models are often twice as high as the suggested ones). The only exception here is the Radeon RX 6800, the price of which has fallen compared to the end of October (but is still significantly overstated).

Is this a good time to buy a graphics card?

Hard to say. At the beginning of next year, we expect the premiere of more GeForce and Radeon models, as well as long-awaited Intel designs. Theoretically, this would mean greater availability of equipment (especially that of the lower price segments).

However, there is no indication that the situation on the graphics card market will improve quickly. Nay! The head of Nvidia believes that the supply crisis may persist next year.
