GeForce RTX 4090 Founders Edition unboxing: the new top of the range from NVIDIA live

The debut date of the GeForce RTX 4090the new top-of-the-range GPU from NVIDIA based on architecture Ada Lovelace. Purchasable from 12 October starting from 1979 eurosthe new proposal of the US company that has come to the editorial office in the version Founders Edition and today we can show you a quick unboxing. The review will be published in the afternoon of 11 October.

As you can see, the GeForce RTX 4090 FE retains the large dimensions of the previous RTX 3090 Ti and 3090, with a slightly larger fan. Aside from this, the cooling system appears unchanged on the outside, with the entire metal body acting as a heatsink in order to keep the GPU and the rest of the components at adequate temperature levels. Of course this doesn’t mean there aren’t any modifications to the heatsink, but they are invisible to the eye.

The GeForce RTX 4090 based on a AD102 GPU with 16384 active CUDA cores and equipped with 24 GB of GDDR6X memory at 21 Gbps for a bandwidth of approximately 1 TB / s by means of the 384-bit bus. The TGP of the card is equal to 450W, the same as the 3090 Ti. Similarly, NVIDIA recommends a power supply of at least 850W with high efficiency for this solution.

On the side there a 16-pin connector (12VHPWR) which allows, with compatible power supplies or via adapter, to power the board with a single cable. NVIDIA, in any case, has given us an adapter that allows us to connect an “old” power supply via 8-pin connectors: there are four connectors, but in reality only three are needed, the fourth only needs to be connected in case of overclocking.

The card sees in the back one HDMI 2.1a port along with three DisplayPort 1.4a. The connection interface to the motherboard remains there PCIe 4.0 x16, like the previous top of the range. As mentioned, we give you an appointment on 11 October for a first look at the new NVIDIA proposal.
