Germany should introduce further restrictions – says the Minister of Health
Health Minister Jens Spahn called for the consistent implementation of the 2G-Plus principles (admission for vaccinated people and convalescents who tested negative for Covid-19) – that is, in fact, to introduce a lockdown for the unvaccinated.
The minister also criticized Thursday’s statement by Green leader Annalena Baerbock, who suggested that any restrictions should be refrained for another 10 days in order to “look at the situation”.
“The transfer of power between the previous and new governments must not lead to delays,” emphasized Spahn. – Nurses in intensive care do not have 10 days to wait. (…) The best solution would be a conference of the prime ministers of the federal states with the federal government over the next few days. As he added, it is already necessary to postpone elective operations in clinics and transfer patients from areas where there are no vacancies in intensive care units.
The health minister calls for a reduction in contacts
– The number of contacts must decrease, and significantly – emphasized Spahn during a joint press conference with RKI boss Lothar Manyr. “The more we push the brake, the better.” (…) The situation is dramatically serious, it has not been so serious from the beginning of the pandemic – he emphasized.
The head of the RKI also called for a reduction in contacts. “Let’s all help break this fourth wave,” Wieler said, stressing that the severe course of the pandemic could be prevented without contaminating others. – With every contact we avoid, with every meeting we give up, with every crowd we avoid, we prevent the spread of the virus, he stressed.
During the coming winter, he added, a lot will depend “on our behavior”. “We are at a crossroads. We can choose a path leading to chaos or one that will relieve the health care system,” argued Wieler.
