The American Phonographic Academy has announced the list of nominees for the most prestigious world music awards. Grammys will be given out in January next year. Jon Batiste won the most nominations. The Swedish band ABBA won their first nomination.

Grammy Awards are given by members of the US National Academy of Arts and Recording Techniques, also known as the Phonographic Academy.

This year, nearly 22,000 applications were submitted to the Academy. This year’s Oscar winner Jon Batiste received the most nominations – 11 and only one less than the record for the number of nominations in a single year. The three artists – Justin Bieber, Doja Cat and HER – each won eight nominations. Billie Eilish and Olivia Rodrigo have seven Grammy chances.

Jay-Z has earned three nominations this year, becoming the most nominated person in Grammy history (83 nominations in total). With two nominations this year, Paul McCartney became the second most nominated person for a Grammy (81 nominations). The first Grammy nomination was won by the band ABBA, which this year released the first CD in 39 years with new music.

The 64th Grammy Awards will be held on January 31 next year in Los Angeles.
