Pogoń Szczecin defeated Śląsk Wrocław 2: 1 in front of their own audience in the second Sunday match of PKO BP Ekstraklasa. “Portowcy” strengthened their third place in the league table.
Kosta Runjaic’s players, who decided to dominate the pitch in the first half of the game, took the lead shortly after the break. After a perpendicular pass from Rafał Kurzawa, Luka Zahović opened the result of the match thanks to a precise shot from an acute angle.
Silesia’s response was immediate. Several dozen seconds after conceding a goal, Rafał Makowski turned Dino Stiglec’s cross into an equalizing goal.
The last word, however, belonged to Pogoń, and specifically to the reserve duo. At a quarter of an hour before the end of the match, Kamil Grosicki played the ball perfectly well from the very end line, and then Michał Kucharczyk directed it from the closest distance to the net. For Grosicki it was the first assist after his return to the game this year in our country.
The well-deserved win allowed Pogoń to come one point in the Ekstraklasa table close to the current runner-up – Lechia Gdańsk. Both teams will face each other in the next round in Szczecin.
Meanwhile, Silesia, after the third game in a row without a victory, lost contact with the leaders of the league.
