— Green Deal or Geopolitics? —
What an event! A few days ago, Better Finance (present throughout Europe) e dsw extension (Deutsche Schutzvereinigung für Wertpapierbesitz, the most important German association for the protection of shareholders and savers) were the protagonists of the “International Investors Conference” in Frankfurt. More than 220 high-ranking guests and speakers from 25 different countries have agreed to participate in the annual event open to both finance experts and the general public. This year the theme of the conference was “Green Deal vs. Geopolitics”: it was possible to participate both in presence and remotely.
The intervention of Christiane Holz, Managing Director of DSW
The main points: the impact of the Covid 19 pandemic, the immense challenges of climate change and the war in Ukraine pose unprecedented challenges to people, companies and financial markets.
The focus is now rightly on companies and their important role in the EU’s ecological transformation. But the role of equity markets and asset managers is also becoming increasingly important.
“Commitment and active ownership are essential if asset managers are to live up to their responsibilities. For all of this, you need a well-functioning CMU. However, not only the framework conditions have to be right, the respective corporate culture also plays a decisive role in the successful implementation of a sustainability strategy. We must now ensure that companies, stock markets, investors and politics work even more closely hand-in-hand. Because this is the right path if we want to become resilient and competitive as a European community and at the same time implement the ecological transformation”.
A huge thank you to Jella Benner-Heinacher, Marc Tüngler, Eva Brang-Blatzheim, the whole team of BETTER FINANCE – European Federation of Investors and Financial Services Users, and all guests, speakers and sponsors for making this event a such success!
