Gwyneth Paltrow admitted to her Instagram followers during an Instagram Q+A session on Thursday that she has had Botox – which has been both ‘successful and unsuccessful.’
The Goop founder, 51 – who recently gushed about ex Chris Martin’s longtime partner Dakota Johnson – was asked by one of her fans: ‘Did you ever try botox?’
In response to the question, the Oscar winner typed out on her Instagram stories, ‘God yes. Both successfully and unsuccessfully I’m afraid.’
Another social media user asked the actress, ‘How does your skin look so good?’ with Paltrow expressing that she is very ‘diligent with my skin care.’
The star has been open throughout the years in regards to her skincare as well as her opinion when it comes to aging.
While talking to Refinery29 back in 2020, the Iron Man actress revealed, ‘In the past, I’ve never said that I won’t do plastic or cosmetic surgery, because I think it’s important to stay honest to the fact that we all change as we age.’
While she doesn’t do Botox currently, Gwyneth has admitted to doing another injectable that is called Xeomin – which is also FDA-approved and labeled as the ‘naked injectable.’
‘I never want to look younger or not like myself,’ the businesswoman further informed the outlet at the time.
She then recalled, ‘When I turned 40, I had like a mid-life crisis and got anti-wrinkle injections all over my face, and it was awful.’
‘I looked horrible – one eye was actually like higher than the other – and it was definitely a big mistake, though luckily a temporary one.’
On the topic of cosmetic surgery, she told Harper’s Bazaar, ‘I think it’s nice when women share, because there’s a lot of shame around surgery or injectables or fillers, and it would be nice if people felt confident about the choices they were making. ‘
‘But if they want to have a beauty secret, that’s okay, too. I’m an open book—I’ve shared what works for me, because that’s how I’ve always learned.’
Gwyneth also discussed her skincare routine and treatments that she favors while talking to Vogue earlier this year in July.
‘I really love a facial massage, (lymphatic) drainage, and working the muscles, as opposed to lasers.’
The star then revealed, ‘I’m a little freaked out about using lasers on the face, and I’ve seen weird results on certain people. It feels risky.’
‘Once in a while, I’ll do a facial with red light for inflammation or something like that. We also sell the Lyma Laser at Goop – it’s really good and gentle, so I’ll do that.’
Paltrow further opened up about ‘her approach’ on aging and stated, ‘I think it’s culture’s problem (that women seem to be judged more on getting older than men).’
She continued, ‘It’s not ours! As women, we want to be healthy, we want to be aging. This idea that we’re supposed to be frozen in time is so weird.’
The Emma actress later added, ‘I think we want to be setting examples of how you can age. Every woman should do it how they want to do it.’
‘Some women want to address every single thing aesthetically, and some women want to be a fabulous French grandmother who doesn’t ever do anything. Everybody should be empowered to do it how they want to,” Gwyneth expressed.
The star’s wellness and lifestyle brand Goop – which was launched back in 2008 – also sells products that target skincare.
Some items include the $150 Youth-Boost Peptide Serum and the Life + Depuff Eye Masks which are priced at $125.
During the Q+A session on Thursday, one fan also asked about her relationship with Dakota Johnson, the actress who has been with Paltrow’s ex, Coldplay singer Chris Martin, since 2017.
Paltrow said, ‘We’re actually very good friends. I love her so much. She’s an adorable, wonderful person.’
The question came just as both Johnson and Martin were spotted together celebrating Johnson’s 34th birthday on Thursday evening.
Gwyneth and the singer notably were married from 2003 until their divorce was finalized in 2016. They share children Apple, 19, and Moses, 17.
The second to last question was, ‘Are you friends with Jennifer Aniston?’ and Paltrow responded by sharing a snap of Aniston in a white dress giving Paltrow a kiss on the cheek.
