Hungary: Border guards fired a van with migrants

A van driving rapidly towards the border was spotted at the crossing in Harka. One of the officers border guards stood in her way, signaling her to stop for inspection. Instead, the driver depressed the gas pedal, forcing the officer to jump to the side.

Other border guard then he fired shots at the vehicle, trying to force the driver to change direction. A van with Hungarian license plates crossed the border and then broke down.

Austrian police detained the Egyptian driver and about 30 people of unknown nationality, it said Hungarian police.

According to data from the Hungarian police, in the last weeks of last year the Hungarian authorities prevented the country from entering the country on the southern border with Serbia and Romania about 2,000-2,500 migrants per week.
