SÃO PAULO, SP (FOLHAPRESS) – After postponing shows of the ‘Wonder’ tour to take care of his mental health, singer Shawn Mendes, 23, announced this Wednesday morning (27) that he will cancel the next performances. The artist shared a statement on his Instagram.
“As you know, I had to postpone the last few weeks of shows as I wasn’t fully prepared for the toll that being back on the road would take on me. I started this tour excited to finally get back to playing live after a long break because of of the pandemic, but the reality is that I was not at all ready for how difficult touring would be after this time away,” he began.
Mendes explains that he talked to the team and a group of health professionals, and that it was clear that he needed to take time “that I never took personally” to come back stronger. “Unfortunately I have to cancel the rest of the North America and UK/Europe tour dates.”
“We were hopeful that I might be able to catch up with the rest of the dates after some much needed time off, but at this point I have to put my health as my priority,” he adds.
Finally, the artist assures that this is not the end of his career. “That doesn’t mean I won’t be making new music, and I can’t wait to see you on tour in the future. I know you’ve all been waiting so long to see these shows, and it breaks my heart to say this, but I promise that I’ll be back as soon as I take the time to heal.”
