Don Cheadle Had Only Two Hours To Decide Whether To Play War Machine In The MCU: “I Was At My Son’s Birthday.”

“I was at my son’s birthday party with laser tag. They called me and said: ‘This is what is happening and we are offering you the role. If you don’t say yes then we’ll go to the next person. This will happen very quickly. Why don’t you take an hour and decide if you want to do it?‘. It was a contract for six films! I thought ‘I only have an hour to decide?’. I asked what the other films were. they answered me ‘It will be the Avengers movies and the Iron Man movies. That’s it, so you have to say yes or no, whether you’re in or out. When I asked what direction the character was going to take, they said ‘We can’t… We don’t know any of that but it’s true, so you have an hour.’ I said ‘I’m at my son’s birthday party.’ And they said ‘Oh, take two hours.’”
