ICC Rankings: Babar Azam Remains On Top, Imam-ul-Haq Makes A Long Jump

Dubai: Pakistan captain Babar Azam has retained his top spot while opener Imam-ul-Haq led by Aaron Finch batted after a stellar performance in the three-match ODI series against Australia at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore in the latest ICC ODI rankings. I have reached number 3.

Pakistan won the ODI series 2-1 after trailing 0-1.

South Africa captain Dean Elgar is one of the few places to be ranked in the latest ICC Test rankings after scoring two half-centuries in the first Test against Bangladesh. Elgar’s scores of 67 and 64 in his opening Test have moved him up three places to No. 13.

South Africa won the Test by 220 runs after bowling out Bangladesh for just 53 in the second innings in Durban.

Another star batsman of the match was Mahmudul Hasan Joy, who became the first Bangladeshi batsman to score a Test century against South Africa. His maiden century saw him jump 37 places to number 66.

Meanwhile, there has been no change in the top-10 batsmen’s list, with Australian Marnus Labuschagne still at the top, followed by fellow countryman Steve Smith and New Zealand captain Kane Williamson at third.

In the bowling list, Australia’s Test captain Pat Cummins continues to top the list, followed by Ravichandran Ashwin in second place and Jasprit Bumrah in third place. South Africa’s Kagiso Rabada, who is unavailable for his home Test series against Bangladesh, has slipped one place to number four, with Shaheen Afridi jumping one place.

In the all-rounders’ list, India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has retained his top spot, followed by Ashwin at No. 2 and West Indies’ Jason Holder at No. 3.

In the ODI rankings, Pakistani captain Babar Azam further cemented his No. 1 ODI batsman position. Babar scored consecutive centuries against Australia and scored 276 runs at an average of 138 during the three-match series.

Pakistani opener Imam-ul-Haq has made the longest jump in the ODI rankings. His top form against Australia in the recently concluded ODI series has helped him move up seven places to number three. Imam remained the highest run-scorer of the series, scoring 298 runs in three matches at an impressive average of 149.

Meanwhile, in-form Australia captain Aaron Finch has slipped three places to number 10. Travis Head, who has taken full advantage of the opportunity to open the innings for Australia, has gained five places to reach number 34.

In the bowling list, Shaheen Afridi has made huge gains to break into the top 10 in the ODI rankings after his recent performance against Pakistan. Afridi has moved up eight places and is now seventh on the list to be topped by New Zealand’s Trent Boult.

After the ODI series against Pakistan, Australian leg-spinner Adam Zampa has dropped five places and is now at No. 14. Meanwhile, New Zealand spinner Ish Sodhi also climbed five places to the 37th position.
