You may remember her mostly as Nikita’s leading lady, but Maggie Q was also the Zhen Lei of Mission: Impossible IIIand in a recent interview he told how he got the role in the film directed by JJ Abrams.
While waiting for the arrival of Mission: Impossible 7 and 8 at the cinema, let’s go back in time to the third film of the franchise, and find out how one of the castings for the film took place, more precisely that ofZhen Lei interpreter Maggie Q.
“I got a call from a friend of a friend who said ‘JJ Abrams is looking for actors for this role, and after two months of casting it seems he still hasn’t found the right person. You need to go to Los Angeles and meet him and audition!’” recalls the actress to the microphones of Collider “For which I fly to LA and… Of course I catch a fever as I get there. I wake up the next day feeling terrible. I had a very high fever. I don’t know what it was, but I thought I was going to die. And, of course, I get a call from Paramount saying ‘Your audition is today at half past three‘“.
Q continues, recounting how she got to the studios that she was a total rag, and how casting director April Webster sat down with her after the actress dozed off in the Paramount offices before her audition and assured her that, despite her fever, she could still pull off a good audition.
“You have 10 minutes to change your life” Webster told her “If you can not be the one with the fever for these 10 minutes, and you can demonstrate what I know you can do, because I am convinced that you are the right one for the part… Then the part will be yoursWebster would tell her.
And the rest, by now, is history (of cinema).
