Spotted in the bay of Villagonia one of the most luxurious boats in the world. To recognize it was the well-known tour operator from Taormina, Nicola Salerno. “Seeing it up close is magnificent – commented Salerno – an expression of extreme luxury”. The ownership of “Infinity”, this is the name of the yacht, is precisely of Eric Smidt, 62, an American businessman, whose assets have been quantified in 4 billion dollars. He is president and CEO of Harbor Freight Tools, which operates more than 1,300 retail hardware stores in 48 states and generated approximately $ 6.5 billion in revenue according to a Los Angeles Business Journal report in August 2021.
The gigayacht Infinity, a 117-meter boat, costing 150 million dollars, was previously known by the project name Y719. She is the largest motor yacht built by Oceanco in the Netherlands. Strict non-disclosure clauses have made it possible to know very little about this yacht. However, her record is temporary, as delivery of the Y721 project, a 127-meter sailing superyacht, commissioned by Amazon owner Jeff Bezos, is scheduled for this year.
The exterior lines of Infinity were designed by Espen Øino International, while Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design together with David Kleinberg Design Associates oversaw the contemporary style interiors.
Spread over seven decks, Infinity can accommodate up to 16 guests on board and features elegant indoor and outdoor spaces, which also include a large wellness area with spa, sauna, gym and yoga studio.
Crew areas, mechanical systems and technology, together with an unprecedented level of comfort especially as regards noise and vibrations, make Infinity one of the most advanced yachts.
