IPL 2022: RCB captain Faf du Plessis praises Dhoni, says – I am privileged to play in his team

Former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been famous for his leadership skills. Dhoni is considered to be the most successful captain of Indian cricket. Along with this, his performance in the Indian Premier League (IPL) was also excellent. He won 3 ICC trophies for India and made Chennai a champion in IPL 4 times. The current captain of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and his old teammate of Chennai team Faf du Plessis has also praised Dhoni’s captaincy.

‘Given a chance to see Dhoni closely’

On Thursday, Mahendra Singh Dhoni handed over the command of Chennai team to all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. Faf du Plessis, the new captain of Royal Challengers Bangalore, praised Dhoni and said, ‘I have played under the leadership of some very good players. Graeme Smith was one, he had some great qualities as a leader and then when I went to Chennai, I was very lucky to get to see MS Dhoni up close.

From 2012 to last season, Faf du Plessis participated in the IPL under Dhoni’s leadership. He further said, ‘I got to see closely how his mind works, how things work under him which was a huge opportunity for me.’

Faf du Plessis is currently the captain of Royal Challengers Bangalore in place of Virat Kohli. Faf du Plessis also participated for Rising Pune Super Giants under Dhoni’s leadership.

RCB captain Faf du Plessis also praised Chennai Super Kings coach Stephen Fleming. He said that Fleming has been an excellent captain in international cricket and has also proved to be the best coach in the current times. RCB has to play its first match against Punjab Kings on 27 March at DY Patil Stadium. At the same time, under the leadership of new captain Ravindra Jadeja, Chennai will start the IPL against Kolkata on 26 March.
