On Thursday night, Alpine released a press release announcing that Laurent Rossi will temporarily take over the management of the team, “allowing everyone to concentrate on preparing for the coming season.”
Rossi, Alpine CEO, said: I would like to thank Marcin Budkowski for his commitment and contribution to the results achieved by the team over the last four years. The team is fully focused on getting the car ready for the first race of the season in Bahrain and making progress in terms of performance.
Marcin Budkowski leaves Alpine
Budkowski added: I was very happy to be part of the Renault and then Alpine F1 Team management team, working with such a talented and dedicated group of people. I will be keeping a close eye on the team’s progress in the coming seasons.
Marcin Budkowski joined Renault in 2017, after leaving the FIA, where he was director of the technical department. During his career in Formula 1, the Polish engineer was also associated with teams such as Prost, Ferrari and McLaren. He became Alpina’s boss before the start of the last Formula 1 season.
Budkowski’s departure led to a vacancy in one of the top management positions of the Enstone stable. For several months, Alpine has been connected with Otmar Szafnauer, who ended his cooperation with the Aston Martin stable last week.
