Hulu’s highly anticipated real crime miniseries Candy puts Emmy nominee Jessica Biel (The Sinner) as Texan killer Candy Montgomery. The Christian housewife and mother of two gruesomely murdered her grim neighbor and church choir friend, Betty Gore, in 1980, following her fiery affair with Betty’s husband Allan Gore. For someone so publicly devoted to God, Candy is as ungodly as they come.

Melanie Lynskey (yellow jackets) plays Betty Gore; Pablo Schreiber (Orange Is the New Black) plays the weak and easily persuasive Allan Gore; Timothy Simons (Veep) plays Candy’s unsuspecting husband Pat Montgomery; and Raúl Esparza (Dopesick) plays Candy’s defense attorney, Don Crowder. From Nick Antosca and Robin Veith, aka the minds behind 2019’s The Act, Candy is clearly chock-full of talented familiar faces.

Considering that Jessica Biel’s Grammy- and Emmy-winning husband Justin Timberlake (Friends With Benefits) – whom you may have heard of – was alongside her at the LA Premiere FYC event for Candy, it’s easy to wonder if he makes an appearance. in the series. Sure, it’s possible he just attended the premiere to support his dear wife. So what is it? Is the “SexyBack” singer on Hulu’s Candy?

Yes, Justin Timberlake makes a surprise appearance in Candy. He arrives in the second half of the limited series, during episode 4, entitled “Cover Girl”. Considering that his signature scruff has been replaced by a caterpillar mustache, it’s easy to miss the pop star at first sight. Justin plays Steve, a Collin County agent investigating the crime scene of Betty’s murder, which took place in the Gore home. At the time Candy tore Betty’s body apart, Allan was on a business trip to St. Paul.

As he walks through the Gore house – observing the blood splattered on the walls and linoleum floor – Deputy Steve photographs Betty’s corpse and the accompanying evidence. This includes the infamous ax. Steve and his fellow police officers quickly realize that whoever committed the hideous deed was clearly an amateur.

“So they downplayed the cleanliness, dropped the murder weapon and took the time to take a shower?” Steve asks as he investigates Betty’s house.

“While a baby was crying in the background,” adds his colleague. That’s right, Betty had recently given birth to a second child.

When a distraught Allan finally returns home from his business trip, aware that his wife has been killed, Deputy Steve is forced to give him gory details.

“Mr. Gore, I know your neighbors have told you that your wife was shot and killed, but there is more,” he begins. We can only imagine what it must be like to be told that your spouse and the mother of your children have been hit with an ax 41 times.

The investigation becomes complicated when Allan lies to Steve about being in a relationship. Maybe things would have turned out differently if Allan had revealed his relationship with Candy Montgomery to the police from the jump.

While former NSYNC member Justin Timberlake is better known for his musical talent than his acting career, his work in heavier films like 2006’s Alpha Dog, 2010’s The Social Network, and most recently, Palmer’s 2021 proves that she boasts excellent acting skills.
