Johnny Depp, who lost a court case against the magazine in 2020 The Sun, again failed. His request to appeal to the British court’s judgment was rejected.
Johnny Depp lost again to Amber Heard in court
Tabloid The Sun describing the case between the acting couple in one of his 2016 numbers, he called Depp a “wife-boy”. The actor did not like this, and he quickly brought a lawsuit against the publisher of the magazine.
However, a British court found that The Sun there was no defamation and dismissed the case. Judge Andrew Nicol emphasized that the actor behaved aggressively towards Amber Heard in at least 12 different situations, so the term used by the magazine is not an abuse.
In response to the judgment, Depp applied for the possibility of appealing to the court’s decision. In his opinion, the judge did not properly assess the evidence.
Depp’s attorney allegedly stated that Amber Heard told “calculated and manipulative lies” at the trial. Example? The actress was to donate $ 7 million to charity. However, she did not transfer the entire amount of money.
Heard’s lawyers have tried to show that this accusation has nothing to do with the case and the actress will pay the entire sum in a timely manner. The delay is supposed to be caused by numerous court cases between the spouses and the related costs.
On Thursday, March 25, the Court of Appeals ruled that Judge Andrew Nicol had made no mistakes in the trial and that the trial was “full and fair” and that an appeal was denied. Consequently, Johnny Depp remains a “martyr.”
Johnny Depp and Amber Head – trial
The actors met in 2011 on the set of the film Rum-drenched journal and they got married four years later. In 2016, Amber Heard sued Depp for domestic violence, and the following year the couple divorced. However, since then, the ex-spouses have continued to meet in the courtroom.
What exactly did Amber Heard accuse Johnny Depp of? The case was brought for domestic violence, which the actor allegedly used against her 14 times. During the trial proceedings, Depp’s ex-partners were questioned – Winona Ryder and Vanessa Paradis. The women testified that the man had never been aggressive towards them.
People associated with Amber Heard said otherwise. Her friends testified that they witnessed Depp’s violent behavior towards the actress.
In turn, the actor himself accused his wife of infidelity. He claimed that during the marriage, Amber had cheated on him with James Franco and Elon Musk.
Although the case with the British tabloid is over, another lawsuit awaits the former spouses. A hearing will be held in a court in Fairfax County, Virginia on May 3 to determine whether Amber Heard has insulted Johnny Depp. The actor is demanding $ 50 million in damages for an article Heard wrote for The Washington Post. In it, she claimed to be a victim of domestic violence by the star.
