Johnny Depp: why his daughter Lily-Rose dissuaded him from selling his Provençal hamlet

“He gave in to his daughter’s pleas.” Actor Johnny Depp’s Hamlet was put up for sale several times before being taken off the market for good. In their book “Amber Heard – Johnny Depp: love, dollars and betrayal”, which is to be published on August 24 but of which Gala publishes some excerpts exclusively, the authors Corinne Calmet and Hervé Tropéa explain the choice of the actor. He would have succumbed to the demands of his daughter Lily-Rose Depp, whom he had from his union with Vanessa Paradis.

The 24-year-old young woman managed to convince her father to keep this hamlet of 1,000 square meters of living space and 15 hectares of land. Located in Plan-de-la-Tour, the Var area is 25 kilometers from Saint-Tropez. According to the Mirror, it had already been put on sale in 2015 and 2016 at a price of 23 million euros, before being withdrawn from the market for the first time. In 2021, Johnny Depp once again wanted to get rid of it, this time for 51 million euros.

In addition to the financial value of this Provençal building where there are several houses for friends, a bar-restaurant, a garage, a staff house, a hunter’s cabin, a children’s playroom, a fitness area, a professional kitchen and a chapel, an added sentimental value for Lily-Rose Depp. The interpreter of Jack Sparrow had indeed bought this house in 2001, three years after his meeting with Vanessa Paradis and two years after the birth of their eldest daughter. “With Vanessa and the children, we live in a kind of village, it’s like paradise,” he confided in 2009 in the columns of VSD. “He gave in to the pleas of his daughter Lily-Rose, attached to this place which contains his best childhood memories, between his father and his mother”, note the authors of the book.
