Jordan Henderson ‘removed from training ground’ after Saudi Arabia transfer

Jordan Henderson has reportedly been loaned out to Liverpool’s training ground after transferring to Al Ettifaq in the summer.

After a 12-year stay at Anfield, Henderson left Liverpool during the summer transfer window to sign with Saudi Professional League side Al Ettifaq for a reported fee of £12 million.

Henderson left Anfield as one of the club’s most successful captains, winning the Premier League, Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, FA Cup, League Cup, FIFA Club World Cup and FA Community Shield.

Following his departure, it has been reported that an image of Henderson has now been replaced at Liverpool’s AXA training centre.

According to The Echo, the photo of Henderson holding the Premier League trophy in 2020 has now been removed and replaced with a photo of Trent Alexander-Arnold holding the Champions League trophy, along with the quote: “I’m a normal boy from Liverpool whose dreams have just come true.”

Alexander-Arnold was appointed Liverpool vice-captain following the departure of James Milner, with Virgil van Dijk replacing Henderson as club captain.

It has been a summer of change for Liverpool and manager Jurgen Klopp is relishing the challenge.

He said last week: “I was really excited about the rebuild, the new approach, the new energy.

“We decided last year that we had to change a lot. We’re not stable yet, there are a lot of things that aren’t (right)… but we’re really good already. Aston Villa had a really, really, really good game, but then two weeks later (against Wolves) we played a really, really, really bad first half.

Klopp added: “Nobody wants to see it but it’s part of the deal. When you want to change things you can’t expect everything to be perfect from the first moment.

“This was the new Liverpool, Liverpool 2.0! But this was just a glimpse of what we could be, we don’t know where we could end up.”
