The employment rate in intensive care units is stable while that in ordinary wards is growing. Vaia: “No alarm, the Italians are ready to remove the masks”
The circulation of the virus increases and epidemiological indicators worsen just on the eve of the farewell to masks on public transport. The weekly monitoring of the Istituto Superiore di Sanità signals a leap in theincidence of Covid cases in Italy that reaches in a week 325 for every 100 thousand inhabitants (from 215 recorded in the monitoring of the last). The transmissibility index Rt also rose, passing from 0.91 to 1or the value of the “epidemic threshold”
The Regions and the autonomous provinces of Trento and Bolzano
“Five regions are classified at high risk ”
for «the presence of multiple resilience alerts. The remaining 16 are at moderate risk »reads the report from the control room of the Higher Institute of Health (Iss) and the Ministry of Health. In particular, the focus is on the two autonomous provinces where the incidence of Covid-19 cases is almost double compared to the national average of 325: Trento (633) and Bolzano ( 637.6). The third region with the greatest incidence is the Veneto with 557.
The rise of ordinary hospitalizations
The saturation of Covid beds in hospitals is one of the indicators under the closest observation in this phase of the rise in infections. If the national rate of employment in intensive care is stable at 1.4% (on 22 September it was at the same level), what is worrying above all is the number of ordinary hospitalizations which, as also underlined by the independent monitoring of the Gimbe Foundation, have reversed the trend and resumed climbing. In particular, the ISS reports that at the national level the occupancy rate of Covid beds in medical areas is
rose to 6% on 29 September (against 5.3% on 22 September recorded by the Ministry of Health). Specifically, they are 5 the Regions that exceed the alert threshold of 10% of beds in ordinary wards occupied by Covid patients: Bolzano (20.2%), Umbria (17.8%), Valle d’Aosta (16.4%), Calabria (12 , 9%), Friuli Venezia Giulia (10.6%).
«No alarm, the Italians are ready to remove the masks. The WHO director general said we are at the tail of the pandemic. Citizens will be responsible »comments the director general of Inmi Spallanzani of Rome, Francesco Vaia.
