Juventus. Szczęsny is critical after the match with AS Roma. “I did everything not to defend it”

The Sunday game between Juventus and AS Roma ended with the “Old Lady” victory 4: 3 (1: 1). One of the heroes of the match was Wojciech Szczęsny, who saved a penalty kick in the 83rd minute of the match.

Juventus scored a very important victory, which, apart from strengthening the league table, also had an impact on positive morale in the dressing room. The team from Turin managed to defeat AS Roma 4: 3, even though they were already losing 1: 3. However, there would be no success if it were not for the perfect intervention of Wojciech Szczęsny.

In the 81st minute, Mathijs de Ligt fouled an opponent in the penalty area and the referee pointed to the lime. What’s more, the young Dutchman was thrown off the field, so Juventus had to hit the bull’s eye at the end of the game.

The most important thing, however, was the possible change in the score. Lorenzo Pellegrini faced the duel with Szczęsny, who in this match already hit the net from a free kick. At eleven meters he turned out to be less effective – his intentions were read by the Polish goalkeeper who hit the ball.

Even though the entire Juventus reaction was euphoric a moment after the parade, Szczęsny himself admitted in an interview with “DAZN” that he was not particularly satisfied with his behavior.

– It’s a great feeling to defend a penalty kick in such an important moment of the game. However, I did everything not to defend this penalty, because I made a trick too early. But I was lucky enough that Pellegrini shot right at me – said the goalkeeper of the “Old Lady”.

– Lorenzo takes penalties in two ways, so I made a feint during his run and had no time to improve because I was off balance – added the Pole.

Thanks to their victory over AS Roma, Juventus strengthened in the top five Serie A. However, they are losing 11 points to the leading Inter, and the team from Milan played one game less.
