Kamil Stoch ends his participation in the 4-Hills-Tournament prematurely. The three-time winner of this event withdraws from further competition due to poor disposition. On Monday, Stoch failed to qualify for the competition in Innsbruck.
On Monday evening, after Kamil Stoch’s talks with the training staff, it was decided that our jumper would not take part in the competition in Bischofshofen.
“The training staff decided to withdraw Kamil Stoch from TCS and the next World Cup competitions. Tomorrow Kamil will return to Poland” – the Polish Ski Association announced in a statement.
“Until the end of the week, rest will be important, and then motor training. Training on the hill is next” – these are Stoch’s closest plans, according to the union’s information.
As informed, In place of Stoch, no other jumper will be appointed yet.
“Other members of Kadra A tomorrow will go to the training camp in Planica, which will last until Friday. From there the team will go to the next COC (Continental Cup – ed.) Competition – if they take place, if not – then they will return to the country for the FIS Cup competition” – communicated PZN. “A change of decision may take place after training in Planica, if one of the players stands out enough to be included in the squad at the World Cup, then he will be called up for competitions in Bischofshofen” – added.
Kamil Stoch finished Monday qualifying in Innsbruck in 59th place, which meant no promotion to the Tuesday competition. He was talking about a plan that had failed.
I had a strong belief that it would work. That’s why I stayed, that’s why I fought, that’s why I wanted to. If I had come home and hadn’t performed here, I’d be sorry. You know me and my character. I always fight to the end – said Stoch on Monday.
Immediately after the unsuccessful qualification, our jumper did not want to reveal whether he could possibly withdraw from the competition in Bischofshofen. The decision was made in the evening.
The defender of the trophy will not appear in the final competition of the 4-Hills-Tournament, as well as in the next World Cup competitions planned for the weekend, also in Bischofshofen. He will probably return to the competition during the World Cup competitions in Zakopane on January 15 and 16.
The following people will participate in the Tuesday competition in Innsbruck: Andrzej Stękała, Piotr Żyła, Paweł Wąsek, Jakub Wolny and Dawid Kubacki. The competition starts at 1.30 p.m.
