Kasem Sulejmani died two years ago

On Monday morning, pro-Iranian hackers attacked the websites of the Israeli newspapers “Maariw” and the “Jerusalem Post”. Monday marks the second anniversary of the killing by US forces of General Kasem Suleimani, one of the most influential Iranian commanders. Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi has announced revenge for the murder of Suleimani.

Hackers posted on Twitter accounts and sites “Maariw” and “Jerusalem Post” a graphic depicting a missile released from the hand of Kasem Suleimani and the explosion of the Israeli nuclear facility in Dimona. “We are close to you, where you do not expect it” was the slogan, written in English and Hebrew, accompanying the graphics.

It is not known whether the perpetrators of the attack were hackers from Iran or outside it, and whether they were the actions of the services of that country – underlines the “Jerusalem Post”. He points out that the newspaper has been attacked by pro-Iranian hackers before, as have other Israeli media. In May 2020, on the main page of the “Jerusalem Post” there was a photo of burning Tel Aviv with the slogan “be prepared for a big surprise”.

The hacker attack has not yet been commented on by the Israeli government or the authorities in Tehran.

The president announces “revenge”. He makes a condition

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi announced in a television speech that he would take revenge for the murder of Suleimani, unless the former president of the United States, Donald Trump (during whose term of office the general was killed), will be brought to trial.

“If Trump and (former Secretary of State Mike) Pompeo are not tried in a fair trial for the murder of General Suleimani, Muslims will get their revenge,” he said, describing Suleimani as a “martyr.”

Death of Suleimani

General Kasem Suleimani, chief of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps foreign operations and commander of the elite Al-Quds unit, was killed on January 3, 2020 at an international airport in the Iraqi capital Baghdad in a US missile attack. The attack was carried out using drones and killed a total of eight people, including one of Iraq’s pro-Iranian militia commanders, Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, and nine injured.

In late December, former head of Israeli military intelligence, General Tamir Hejman, confirmed Israel’s involvement in organizing the deadly attack on Suleimani. “The attack on Suleimani was an achievement because our main enemy, in my opinion, are the Iranians,” said Hejman.

Suleimani was one of the most important Iranian military commanders; his troops fought, among others in Syria by supporting the regime of President Bashar al-Assad and in Iraq by fighting terrorists from the Islamic State. US authorities accused the Iranian general of supporting attacks on American soldiers.
