The 47-year-old actress is Vogue’s October 2023 cover star and opened up about her new film, “Lee“. This biographical drama, which had its world premiere on September 9 at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival, features Kate Winslet as photographer and photojournalist Lee Miller.
Lee Miller photographed the events of World War II for Vogue magazine. She has made appearances in some of her photos throughout her career, sometimes posing topless. The British actress, who is also a producer of “Lee”, therefore decided to recreate one of Miller’s famous nude photos for a scene in the film.
Leonardo DiCaprio’s best friend said she filmed the moment after injuring her back, which left her unable to do weight training.
“I had to show a lot of courage to let my body express itself in its softest version and not hide from it” she told Vogue.
Speaking about “body positivity”, Kate Winslet said: “I know it’s best not to waste precious energy criticizing my body.”
She added: “I think any woman would be better off just saying: I believe in myself. It doesn’t matter what other people think; this is who I am – let’s move on.”
This is not the first time that the actress, who made herself known to the general public by playing Rose in the film Titanic, gets naked in one of his films. As a challenge, she who has heard hurtful comments about her body over the years.
