Keanu Reeves talks about his cameo in Ballerina and praises the talent of Ana de Armas in an action role
Dancerthe spin-off of John Wick starring Ana de Armas, is in full production, with filming beginning last fall. As we know Keanu Reeves will join the cast, along with other important supporting characters from the action franchise, such as Winston (Ian McShane) and Charon (Lance Reddick). While John Wick won’t have a major role in the spin-off and his presence will be limited to a cameoKeanu Reeves confirms that the cross-over is far from being forced, quite the contrary. “It’s a good story” commented Reeves speaking with Total Film. “Len Wiseman has his own vision but he’s also lovingly embracing the world of John Wick. Ian McShane is present in the role of Winston”. The actor went on to confirm that he will be present only briefly, with a small part, and extolling the stage presence and talent of Ana de Armas grappling with an action role. “I heard there was a nice transition and it was fun to get back into the role, even if it was only for a short while”.

Keanu Reeves went on to specify that there is a reason for John Wick’s presence in Dancer. “There’s a reason John’s in Ballerina and it’s completely organic. And working with Ana was amazing. She really loves the action and she’s really good at it”. Beyond the spin-off, the future of the franchise John Wick it is still rather uncertain. According to Reeves a lot will depend on how many will go to see the fourth chapter of the saga, due out in March. “We will have to see how the public will react to what we have done. We’ve had the ability to continue making these films because people have loved what we’ve done. So we just have to wait and see how the public will respond. We hope you like it”.
Ana de Armas stars in Dancer, as already anticipated along with several other stars of the John Wick universe. In addition to Reeves, McShane and Reddick, the cast also includes Anjelica Huston, Catalina Sandino Moreno and Norman Reedus. Len Wiseman directs from a screenplay by Shay Hatten. For the moment the spin-off does not yet have a release date set, while John Wick 4 will arrive in theaters on March 24, 2023.
