Some fans wondered if season 18 would be the last Grey’s Anatomy. Meredith took a new job in Minnesota to find the cure for Parkinson’s, but she spent most of her days in her original hospital. At the end of the season, she plans to leave Gray-Sloan Memorial forever.
It would certainly be an appropriate ending to the show since it started with Meredith’s internship. But once again, another season is coming with Ellen Pompeo playing Meredith Gray.
“I couldn’t be more excited to be able to continue telling the stories of Meredith, Bailey, Richard and all the other doctors at Gray Sloan Memorial for another season,” said Shonda Rhimes according to Variety. “This is a true testament to Krista Vernoff, the cast, the crew and all the writers who keep the audience in suspense week after week. And it wouldn’t be possible without the generations of incredible fans who have supported “Grey’s Anatomy” for so many years. “
Next season could be about Meredith trying to save the hospital residency program. He was put on probation after Levi Schmitt’s mother Myrna (Michelle Gardner) complained about it.

Grey’s Anatomy will it reach 19 seasons and some have wondered how long it can last? McKidd explained why he thinks the show can go on for so long.
“I don’t know how this show ends at this point,” he said, according to People. “We all thought this season was going to be the end. I felt like we were all building towards it this season. But the public seems to want even more ”.
He then mentioned how being a medical show works differently than other dramas. “The problem is with a medical show, because most TV shows struggle because their narrative, or the construct of how they are telling the stories, starts to get twisted to move forward,” McKidd said. “With medical shows, there is an endless amount of stories because there are new people walking into hospitals every single day. That’s why it’s hard to really see what the end may be. All I can tell you is that at this point he is bigger than all of us ”.
There have been many actors who have left the show over the years. But Pompeo has always been the protagonist. Rhimes said earlier Grey’s Anatomy it would end when Pompeo wants to leave, so there is at least one person without whom the show won’t continue.
