Kristen Stewart has been chosen to lead the jury of the Berlin International Film Festival 2023.
The Twilight actress has signed up to watch all the films selected to compete in Germany’s annual festival and decide which one should win the Golden Bear for best film.
“We are thrilled to have Kristen Stewart take on this illustrious assignment. She is one of the most talented and multifaceted actresses of her generation. From Bella Swan to the Princess of Wales, she has created timeless characters. Young, brilliant and with an impressive body of work behind her, Kristen Stewart is the perfect bridge between the United States and Europe,” festival directors Mariette Rissenbeek and Carlo Chatrian said in a statement.
Kristen has been a fixture on the film festival circuit for the past few years: she attended the Cannes Film Festival with David Cronenberg’s Crimes of the Future project earlier this year and went to the Venice Film Festival in 2019 and in 2021 to support her films, Seberg and Spencer, in which she played actress Jean Seberg and the late Diana Royal, Princess of Wales.
The 32-year-old also has experience judging festivals: she was a juror at Cannes in 2018 alongside Cate Blanchett.
The jury supporting Kristen in Berlin has yet to be announced.
The Berlin International Film Festival 2023 will take place from 16 to 26 February.
