La Mortella, harp and piano at musical meetings – Il Golfo 24

The William Walton Foundation will offer the public of the Giardini la Mortella on Sunday 24 July a concert with rarely heard music: in the Recital Hall at 5:30 pm the Duo Harp and Piano composed by the harpist Fabrizio Aiello and the pianist Pieralessio Caroli. For the summer season of the Musical Meetings, Sunday will be the penultimate appointment on the calendar. The Harp is an ancient instrument, already known in ancient Egypt, which spread throughout Europe from the fourteenth century, finding growing fortune in the nineteenth century as a living room instrument until the twentieth century, when there was a revival of interest in this instrument thanks also to some great virtuosos. The repertoire for this ensemble includes both original compositions and transcriptions, ranging from different eras. The artists: the harpist Fabrizio Aiello, after graduating in Harp and Ensemble Music with honors and honorable mention at the “Piccinni” Conservatory of Music in Bari, he specialized at the Fiesole Music School with S. Bertuccioli and G. Pretto. He has played with prestigious organizations and has distinguished himself in International Music Competitions, always ranking in the first places. He has published transcriptions and revisions for harp of collections of Sonatas by Domenico Scarlatti and Toccate by Leonardo Leo.

The pianist Pieralessio Caroli instead he studied piano, music didactics, choral music and choir conducting at the “Nino Rota” Conservatory in Monopoli (BA), graduating with full marks. He has recorded a CD and collaborated with singing, scenic art and instrument classes as an accompanist pianist and was director of the children’s choir. As a pianist he has participated in several competitions, finishing in the first places. He is currently the Director of the “GP da Palestrina” Choir of Suzzara (MN) with which he holds concerts in Italy and abroad, collaborating with orchestras and singers. The musical program that the Aiello-Caroli duo will propose at the Giardini la Mortella includes a repertoire with music by Handel, Dussek, Blanco, Debussy.
