Lauren Ridloff reveals the idea for a new The Walking Dead prequel

When the sisters Connie (Lauren Ridloff) e Kelly (Angel Theory) first appeared in The Walking Deadit had been a few minutes since the disappearance of Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) aboard a helicopter of the CRM in season 9. But six years have actually passed in those minutes, revealing a Judith Grimes grew up (Cailey Fleming) while saving the group of Connie and KellyYumiko (Eleanor Matsuura) great (Nadia Hilker) e Luke (Dan Fogler) – from zombies. What happened in those years before meeting them in The Walking Dead? There were hints here and there, bits and pieces of their former life. For the Ridloffis a story worth telling.

“I would like to see a prequel on Connie and KellyRidloff told EW. “Because I think the relationship between them is definitely interesting: being sisters and Kelly’s journey with her hearing loss and their age difference.”

Connie is completely deaf – “a goddamn superpower”, as she reminded her younger sister in season 10 – and Kelly is progressively losing her hearing. The sisters communicate using sign language, the first representation of the deaf and deaf community in the long-running zombie series that concludes this month after eleven seasons.

Before the fall of civilization, Connie was an established journalist who denounced corrupt politicians with her news pieces. Politicians Pamela Milton (Laila Robins), the subject of an article by Connie who has caused quite a bit of trouble within the post-apocalyptic civilization of Ohio.

A prequel about Connie and Kelly would also be a reason to look back on past traumas, as hinted at in the season 9 episode. Referring to a conversation between the sisters, Ridloff recalled: “There was a moment where Connie seemed to imply that she’d had a baby at some point, and I’d like to explore that.”

Such a story could play out in future episodes of Tales of the Walking Deadthe episodic anthology series that delved into the origin story of the leader of the Whisperers, Alpha (Samantha Morton), or elsewhere in the universe of TWD extension.

In 2023, the AMC network will introduce three new spin-offs: The Walking Dead: Dead Cityfollowing Maggie (Lauren Cohan) e Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) in one New York plagued by zombies. Daryl Dixonfocused on trying to Daryl (Norman Reedus) to come home from Parisin France. AND Rick & Michonneup Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) e Michonne (Danai Gurira) who find their way to each other.
