League of Legends icon says ‘Disneyland’ champion removed

Whether you are a newbie League of Legends Or a one-season veteran, you’ll know Dales. The former TSM top laner turned Twitch streamer helped put North American League of Legends on the map and cemented himself as one of the greatest players of all time. So when he announced a surprise AMA on X (formerly Twitter), fans were quick to ask him which heroes he thought should be kept and removed.

After all, it’s no secret that he has his favorites. I remember the good old days when Singed was actually a viable option in League of Legends – that trashy laugh still echoes in my head every time I think about the champion. At least Mordekaiser and Jax are still pretty powerful – especially the latter.

However, when it comes to the list of heroes he wants removed from MOBAs, there are a lot of. “If you could remove one champion from the game, who would it be (not counting Yuumi)?” one fan asked, to which Dales replied: “Zoe, Lilia, Yumi, Nicole, except Gwen Except, any character that looks like a Disneyland character.”

I want to say poor Yumi because of the double dunk there, but I real That’s not what it means. And, as a Scot, Lilia’s accent is the bane of my existence, so I’m glad to see her go, too.

All jokes aside, though, this is a fairly common criticism of League of Legends’ newest champion. While Bel’Veth and Naafiri are good attempts to fill the “monster champion” void (pun intended) seen since Pyke’s release in 2018, I still don’t think Riot has successfully tackled the darkness and depth of characters like Pyke. The problem of inhumanity. Or the embodiment of Rek’Sai.

Throw in bright and colorful skins like Star Guardian, and a turn at iconic style bands like K/DA and Heartsteel, and the Rift definitely feels more “Disneyland” than dark and edgy.

Hopefully League of Legends Season 14 will bring us back to a crappier League of Legends – after all, those were the good old days. But there’s a long list of things Riot has to do well this season in order to really grab my attention – and monster champions are just the tip of the iceberg.
