Lech Poznan. Adam Owen will go to Spartak Moscow?

At the beginning of October, we informed that Lech Poznań created a research department in which he employed, among others, The Danish Mathias Marker and the Welshman Adam Owen. The last name was no stranger to Ekstraklasa fans. In 2017-18, Adam Owen led the Lechia Gdańsk team as the first coach. Previously, he worked as a specialist in motor preparation in clubs such as the Scottish Rangers and Celtic Glasgow. Owen was also responsible for motor skills in the national team of Wales, during the best tournament for her in history – in Euro 2016 the Welsh team sensationally reached the semi-finals of the continental championship. After an unsuccessful stay in Gdańsk, Owen successfully worked in the MLS club – Seattle Sounders, after which he joined Lech Poznań.

Currently, British and Russian sources report that Spartak Moscow is interested in the services of coach Adam Owen. Spartak is a group rival of Legia Warszawa in group C of the Europa League. After four rounds, the Russians with four points are in the last place in the group, but they are only two points behind the second Legia. It seems that the next, fifth round of the tournament may be decisive, in which Leicester will play at home with the Polish champion, and Spartak will play today at 16:30 Polish time at home with Napoli.

Spartak’s situation in the European competition is not as bad as in the domestic league competition. Footballers from the capital at the halfway point of the tournament, after 15 rounds, are only 10th in the Premier League in a 16-team stake. In this situation, it is not surprising that the position of the Portuguese coach Rui Vitoria is under serious threat. Anyway, this was the case at the beginning of the season when we asked the Russian journalist Alexander Goryunov about the situation in the club from the capital:

– The position of the Portuguese coach is very precarious. In nine league games, Spartak has only won three times. Spartak must win with Legia to strengthen the position of the coach.

As we remember, Spartak succumbed to Legia Warszawa 0-1, then suffered a few more painful defeats, incl. 1-7 with Zenit Saint Petersburg.

This shook even more the position of Rui Vitoria, who is supposed to be close to the “outlet”. According to Russian sources, Adam Owen’s candidacy is heavily considered, but the favorite to take the position of Spartak Moscow and replace Vitoria is the Italian coach, Paolo Vanoli. This is the coach who was Antonio Conte’s assistant at Inter Milan and Chelsea.
