Antoni Kozubal is considered one of the greatest young talents in Lech Poznań. He stayed in March the youngest footballer of PKO Ekstraklasa of the previous season (at the time of his debut, he was 16 years and 208 days old), and in September with the goal of Skra Częstochowa in the Fortuna Polish Cup, he became one of the youngest goalscorers in Lech’s history (17 years and 10 days).
Antoni Kozubal joined the Wroniec part of the Lech Poznań Academy at the beginning of the 2017/2018 season with Beniaminek Krosno and went through all levels of training – from sneakers, through juniors (in 2019 he reached the Polish vice-championship of younger juniors), to reserves, where in recent months he was an important figure. In total, in the second division fields, he played in 23 matches, in which he scored and had an assist.
Shortly after his senior debut, the 17-year-old extended his contract with Lech Poznań. Now the contract is valid until the end of June 2025.
In turn, on Thursday Lech Poznań and Górnik Polkowice signed documents concerning the loan of Antoni Kozubal for the next round to Górnik Polkowice. The Polkowice players occupy the last, 18th place in the Fortuna league table. After 20 matches, they have 13 points – six less than Puszcza Niepołomice, the first team outside the relegation zone.
Lending young players to play in the lower divisions is an element of Lech Poznań’s strategy. In the lower leagues they developed, among others Kamil Jóźwiak, Jakub Moder and Tymoteusz Puchacz, and currently in Fortuna I league play even a goalkeeper Krzysztof Bąkowski and striker Filip Szymczak.
