A generous donation to the country where the actor’s maternal grandmother came from
Many well-known faces from the world of cinema, fashion and sport who have taken the field in recent days to raise funds for the Ukrainian people. Among these is the Hollywood star Leonardo DiCaprio to distinguish himself. He donated ten million dollars.
To report it is the news agency Ukrinform. The amount credited to the current account of the National Bank of Ukraine is the highest donated so far. According to many sources, the American activist would have done so for reasons related to his family. There maternal grandmother Elena Sminorva, who died in 2008 at the age of 90, was born in Odessa, a port city located on the Black Sea, at the center of the Russian conflict.
To date, the actor has not made official statements, but the decision would come after President Zelensky’s appeal to support his country and its people. This generous donation will go to support not only the humanitarian cause but also the army. To help Ukrainian refugees, actress Mila Kunis with her husband Ashton Kutcher has started a fundraiser through the GoFundMe portal, while Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds promise to double every donation to the UN Refugee Agency.
