Robert Lewandowski scored the most away goals in the Bundesliga against Augsburg, Schalke 04 and Mainz (10 each). The league record now belonged to Gerd Mueller, who scored 11 goals for the Gelsenkirchen team outside Allianz Arena.
Lewandowski equaled the Mueller record
Until Friday’s game, Lewandowski faced Rafał Gikiewicz four times and scored four goals in total. Now the Polish striker defeated his compatriot and scored the eleventh goal for Augsburg’s away team. The Pole’s goal can be seen here. The 33-year-old striker thus equaled Gerd Mueller’s record.

Despite the Polish hit, Bayern Munich sensationally lost away to the third team from the end of the table – Augsburg 1: 2.
Lewandowski still has a chance to improve another achievement of Gerd Mueller – the number of goals scored in the Bundesliga in one calendar year. In 1972, the German scored 42 goals. This year the Pole hit 38 times.
Robert Lewandowski is the leader of the Bundesliga scorer after 12 rounds played. The striker of the German champion has 14 goals on his account and is already ahead of five goals from Norwegian Erling Braut Haaland (Borussia Dortmund).
Frenchman Anthony Modeste (1. FC Koeln) and Czech Patrik Schick (Bayer Leverkusen) have eight goals each.
