Lewis Hamilton has won the last two Formula 1 races in which Mercedes has seen impressive performance gains. The Briton enchanted the world of F1, first of all, at the Sao Paulo GP, where he first in the qualifying sprint made his way from last to fifth, only to be promoted from tenth to first in the race a day later.

It was at the Sao Paulo GP that, even before the qualifying sprint, the Mercedes driver was disqualified from the qualifying results. All because of the non-regulatory rear wing, in which the beams opened too wide – only 0.2 mm.

This is why the rear wing of the Mercedes car was targeted by Red Bull Racing. The “red bulls” reported to the FIA that Germany has made amendments to this item that may not be in line with F1 rules. This sparked an avalanche of speculation.

Hamilton in an interview with “The Times” admitted that he had heard rumors about the alleged Mercedes fraud, so he decided to call the technical director and chief aerodynamicist himself to explain to him how the new solutions in the W12 model work.

– There is a limit. I saw that someone accused us of cheating. If someone makes such accusations, these are the worst accusations that could have been made against us – said the 36-year-old.

Currently, the Briton is 8 points behind the championship leader Max Verstappen. Two races remain until the end of the competition in the 2021 season.

At the next Saudi Arabia GP scheduled for this weekend, Lewis Hamilton will again be using the new engine he has installed at the Sao Paulo GP. Mercedes claims that it is the fresh unit that makes the car so much more powerful.

Interestingly, if Hamilton wins the Saudi Arabian GP and Verstappen is second, and such a scenario is very likely, the Red Bull driver will have only one point ahead of the current F1 world champion before the final race of the 2021 season. If Hamilton in Jeddah additionally scores a “spot” for the author of the fastest lap in the race, we will have a draw before the Abu Dhabi GP in the overall standings.
