On Thursday, Marseille activists announced that Cedric Bakambu has been contracted. The 30-year-old striker from the Democratic Republic of Congo came to the Stade Velodrome as a free player and signed a 2.5-year contact with the Marseilles. Bakambu has defended the colors of Bejing Gouan in the last four seasons. In the Chinese league in 71 appearances, he scored 48 goals. Previously, he also impressed with his effectiveness for Villarreal, where he recorded 32 hits in 75 games.
In his career, he also defended the colors of Bursaspor, and the 30-year-old player from the Democratic Republic of Congo started his European adventure in the Sochaux team.
OM Bakambu will compete for a place in the starting line-up, among others with Arkadiusz Milik. This season, the Pole scored only one goal in the Ligue 1 competition and recently fell out of favor with coach Jorge Sampaoli. In the last league match against Bordeaux, the Polish representative did not play due to a coronavirus infection. The Argentine trainer will now have much more room for maneuver after contracting the Bakambu.
