Lionel Messi’s involvement on the pitch for Inter Miami has decreased dramatically over the past three weeks. Despite a heavy workload in his first several weeks at the club. Inter Miami manager Gerardo Martino issued an update on Lionel Messi’s injury status after the Argentine missed his third consecutive Inter Miami game.
Speaking to reporters, Martino said: “That’s what I said. We’re going to take this game by game. We’re going to evaluate him (before Wednesday’s game) against Chicago. If he’s going to be on the bench, if he’s going to be off the bench, whether it’s against Chicago or against Cincinnati (next weekend). We are going to see that.”

Messi was once again absent in an MLS match for the Herons’ 1–1 draw with New York City FC. The renowned striker missed his third consecutive Inter Miami game due to injury.
As a result, there were concerns that he might not play again this season. However, after the game, manager Gerardo Martino issued an update on the star’s injury, indicating that he was making a quick recovery.
“He is training on the field separately from the group, but he is feeling better and better… Time will tell whether what I am saying is true or whether the person who made the report is right.” Martino added.

With Messi sidelined, his club is now winless in its last three matches. This also included a defeat against Houston Dynamo in the US Open Cup final.
It remains to be seen whether Messi will make his MLS debut on Wednesday against Chicago Fire. Miami has five league games remaining in the hunt for a postseason berth. According to Martino, Messi will play an active role, but his minutes will be monitored on a game-by-game basis.
