Little Mix officially goes on hiatus. Remember the girlband’s trajectory!

And then, back in 2011, on the show “X Factor”, 4 girls signed up as solo artists, and they didn’t imagine that their lives would totally change. They are: Perry Edwards, Jade Thirlwall, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jesy Nelson. In the bootcamp phase, where many artists were cut from the program, the 4 were eliminated.

But something happened. Gary Barlow, Tulisa, Kelly Rowland and Louis Walsh argued and called the 4 back on stage, offering the chance to go on as a group. They found it and began to walk the journey.

Before becoming Little Mix, they chose the name Rhythmix, but due to copyright, they changed it to the name that accompanied them until their hiatus. Already during the program, their success was remarkable.

They were called to do a benefit concert and were judged by superstar Jessie J in the “Judges House” stage (where participants performed at the mentor judge’s house). Jessie was invited by Tulisa, the group’s official mentor.

On December 11, 2011, they became the first group to win The X-Factor. In an emotional finale, singing “Cannonball”, and releasing a digital single soon after, they went straight to the top of the British charts, homeland of the beloved “mixtures”.

Since then the girls have been a hit machine! In 2012, they released the album “DNA”, with the smash-hit “Wings”; “How Ya Doin?” Edna”. The album charted in the top 10 in several countries.

In 2013, the girls changed their sound and look; they became more adult, bet on R&B with Pop and then came the era that marked this transformation: “Salute”. The first single was “Move”, which reached number three in the UK charts, and continued the work. Then the girls bet on “Salute” (Title Track) and then on “Little Me”. Due to the success, they were called to do the Sport Relief campaign in 2014, with a cover of “Word Up” by the band Cameo.

Later, one of the band’s biggest hits was released: “Black Magic”, which spent 3 consecutive weeks at number one on the UK Charts, and started the era “Get Weird”, one of the most remarkable, and which featured a song , which was adopted by the LGBTQIAP+ community, and written with that intention “Secret Love Song”.

The girls have always kept the bonds between them very strong and, after a blow in the life of Perry Edwards, which was the end of the relationship with Zayn Malik (Ex-One Direction), the girls returned with “blood in their eyes” for their next era, with a song entirely dedicated to “chernoboy”. The hit charted at number one for over 4 weeks, making Little Mix the first girl band to have 4 singles on the official number one singles chart.

The hit? “Shout Out To My Ex” (A shout out to my Ex, straight and straight). With that, they ushered in the Glory Days era, which featured more hits like “Power”; “Touch” “No More Sad Songs” and yielded a partnership with CNCO in “Reggaeton Lento”.

The girls had already expressed their desire to leave Syco, Simon Cowell’s record company. However, the differences became much clearer with the launch of its next era, the LM5. This was the last job with Syco and generated some controversy for the music mogul.

The girls said they wanted a female-only album. And that was almost it. “Woman Like Me” opened the work, with Nicki Minaj, a partnership that was one of the most desired by the girlband.

However, they revealed that they did not like the disclosure made by the label, which was almost null. Since “Glory Days” partnerships were made without much consent from them, except Charlie Puth and rapper Stormzy. There were other scandals behind the scenes.

Also, the partnership with Ty Dolla Sign doesn’t seem to have been their idea on the “Think About Us” remix. In the end, the girls left Syco and went to RCA Records.

The last one was with climate pie

“Confetti” was the last unreleased album. Released in 2020, it was filled with hits, including “Sweet Melody”, “Holiday” and “Break Up Song”. Everything seemed to be going well, but the first bombshell came: Jesy Nelson’s departure caused a huge noise, and a lot of controversy.

Jesy Nelson said she left to take care of her mental health, but a few days after her departure, she announced her solo career. The backstage of this exit seemed to be troubled, and the girls followed the disclosure calendar as a trio. Fans to this day don’t buy Jesy’s excuse, and it seems that a feud has been established between the three friends and the former Little Mix member.

Jesy was accused of doing “Blackfishing”, that is, using black culture for her success, and member Leigh Anne ended up talking about it, and said that she warned her bandmate several times, but that there was no change.

The end?

The 3 friends follow the partnership, and have already announced that their solo releases will not be conflicting, that is, they will be released on different days.

Remember it’s last name!

The girls have accomplished many things as a group, the biggest being after the Spice Girls. Among some of them:

They were the first girl band to win the “Best Group” category at the 2021 Brit Awards; were the first to reach 100 weeks on the Top 10 Official Singles Charts (UK Official Chart); first group to win the “X-Factor” franchise; all of the group’s tours were among the best sellers, and sold out several times, including the O2 Arena in the United Kingdom; with DNA, the first album of their career, they broke the Spice Girls’ record, becoming the second girl band to have an album debut at number one, and staying longer than the 90’s girl band.
